Indonesia pursues food diversification through B2SA food program

Indonesia’s National Food Agency (Bapanas) is striving to actualize food diversification for people by implementing the House of Diverse, Nutritionally Balanced, and Safe (B2SA) Food program.

“The House of B2SA Food program is meant to lead people to shift their mindset to the better, encouraging them to enhance the quality of their intake by consuming diverse, nutritionally balanced, and safe dishes every day,” Bapanas Head Arief Adi Prasetyo stated.

In the agency’s statement cited here on Friday, he underlined the importance of Indonesian people paying attention to the nutritional contents of their food.

“Food should not merely be filling but also healthy. We would like to appeal to all people to comprehend the concept of B2SA food. It is important to shift the mindset from focusing solely on filling meals to healthy ones,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Bapanas Director of Food Consumption Diversification Rina Syawal suggested that people make the most of local and easy-to-find food resources to meet their need for B2SA meals.

She emphasized that such food resources are affordable and easy to process into meals with high flavor and health quotient.

The official further remarked that this year, Bapanas aims to develop a B2SA food house in 175 prioritized villages scattered across 33 provinces.

She explained that under the program, the Bapanas is conducting an array of activities, including a cooking demo in collaboration with Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) teams and other relevant stakeholders.

“The B2SA Food House program entails the holding of dissemination and educational events, such as a cooking demo that promotes the use of local food materials. We hope that people will apply the B2SA concept while cooking everyday meals,” she stated.

National road access in the Anai Valley, West Sumatra, has reopened

National road access for the Padang-Pekanbaru route in Anai Valley, Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra, which was cut off due to flash floods on May 11, 2024, has reopened.

Head of the West Sumatra Transportation Service, Dedy Diantolani, in Padang, Sunday, said that the road access was officially opened starting Sunday (July 21) morning at 7.00 a.m. of local time.

He said that for the time being it could only be passed by two-wheeled vehicles, four-wheeled vehicles and vehicles with two axles.

“After it opened this morning, the flow of vehicles passing was quite heavy, but by midday the flow of vehicles returned to normal,” he said.

Diantolani said, because PT Hutama Karya is still completing road repairs at several points, for the time being there was traffic engineering being implemented in the form of opening and closing.

“This is to ensure the safety of motorists as well as provide space for completing road repairs,” he said.

Padang Panjang Police Chief AKBP Kartyana Widyarso Wardoyo Putro appealed to the public to remain careful when crossing the road in the Anai Valley because road repair work is still ongoing at several points.

“To the public who use the road, especially vehicle owners who pass through the Anai Valley route, do not stop at road work points because this can cause traffic jams and disrupt the ongoing road work process, he said.

He explained that after the opening of the Anai Valley route, next week an evaluation will be carried out for three-axle vehicles.

“We are still evaluating in the next week whether or not three-axle vehicles and above can pass on the Anai Valley route. Of course, by looking at the flow of small vehicles that pass every day,” he said.

He also appealed to those passing by to be careful on the road and still prioritize safety because there are still many work points and piles of material.

” We urge you not to stop along the road from the Anai Valley waterfall to the Padang Panjang city limits because it will create traffic jams,” he said.

For tourism activities, Putro continued, there will be no stopping for travelers since there is no activity in the Anai Valley.

“It is better to travel and shop to Padang Panjang so that the Padang Panjang community’s economy can recover after being affected by the last natural disaster,” he added.

The Padang-Pekanbaru national road in the Anai Valley was completely cut off due flash floods on May 11, 2024.

The government, through the PUPR Ministry, responded quickly to the condition and ordered PT Hutama Karya to carry out road repairs.

To this date, road repairs have reached 40 percent.

Because the road is the main access from Padang-Pekanbaru, it was decided to open road access to the general public on Sunday (July 21) with several restrictions.

At the same time, PT Hutama Karya continues to work to achieve the target of 100 percent completion by October 2024.

Keroncong Plesiran event can promote Yogyakarta’s tourism: Minister

Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Minister Sandiaga Uno expressed optimism about the Keroncong Plesiran event in Bantul District, Yogyakarta Province, being able to showcase the tourism appeal of the province.

According to the Ministry’s statement received here on Sunday, Keroncong Plesiran, part of the 2024 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program of the ministry, is an event featuring the Indonesian-styled musical performance of “keroncong” that spotlights the freedom of expression and improvisation.

“Keroncong Plesiran has managed to earn a spot in the KEN for the fourth time. I am very proud of this, and I support this event so that it can be further improved in the future,” he remarked in Bantul on Saturday (July 20).

Unlike its previous editions, this year’s Keroncong Plesiran, being held on July 20-21, seeks to combine various artistic disciplines, such as fine arts, music, and dance.

Among the musicians performing at the event are Pramudyaswara Keroncong Orchestra, Hompimpah Keroncong Orchestra, Symphony Kerontjong Moeda, Okky Kumala, Ardhito Pramono, Isyana Sarasvati, and Jogja Hip Hop Foundation.

Uno said he views the performances showcased at the event as an example of innovation that can attract youngsters to Keroncong by blending it with other music genres.

“Music, as a universal language, turned out to be able to unite Gen Z. Hence, it is safe to ditch the assumption of Keroncong being enjoyable only to those from older generations, as Gen Z can also enjoy it,” he remarked.

The minister then said that he was keen to see Plesiran Keroncong further stepping up its quality and scale in its next edition.

In addition to enjoying musical performances, visitors are also proffered with a bazaar that showcases creative products made by micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as a camping ground.

Meanwhile, Head of the Tourism Office of Yogyakarta, Singgih Raharjo, revealed that people from outside Yogyakarta had accounted for 70 percent of the event’s total visitors.

“This event does drive tourists to start loving Keroncong,” he said.

Four weather modification airplanes used to support IKN airport work

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said four planes were deployed to carry out weather modification to support the progress of construction work at the VVIP Airport of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara.

“We have deployed four aircraft (with weather modification technology) for air conditioning, but it is still raining,” he stated on the sidelines of the 2024 National Road Safety Week (PNKJ) Kickoff in Jakarta, Sunday.

According to him, the biggest challenge in building the VVIP IKN Airport, which is called Nusantara Airport, is the continuous rain in the East Kalimantan region.

For example, the working days in June used to carry out the construction work were only eight days due to heavy rain.

Therefore, his party teams up with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to carry out weather modification efforts to support the construction of the airport.

Sumadi informed that his party had also been invited by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on July 25 to report the progress of the airport construction.

The IKN VVIP Airport is targeted to start operating on August 1, 2024, to support the ceremony of Indonesia Independence Day on August 17 at IKN.

The progress of the physical work at IKN Airport up to the 25th week has covered several aspects, including steel work, installation of plumbing pipes, roofs, walls, and electricals at the VVIP Terminal, column work, and installation of plumbing pipes and steel frames at the VIP Terminal.

Followed by structural work on floors 1-4 of the ATC Building, pile cap work and plumbing installations in the Administration and Operations Building, minipile work and plumbing pipes in the PK-PPK Building, and the structural work on the substation building.

Work on other aspects had also been carried out, such as the structural work on the house of worship building, quarantine lab structure work, minipile work on power house buildings, cut & fill work, U-ditch excavation, geotextiles, aggregates on the Main Access Road (uditch), retention basin, West Perimeter Road, foundation work piling of the Pump Room and GWT Building, STP, as well as foundation work for the official residence.

Previously, President Jokowi said that development progress at IKN had fallen behind the initial target due to heavy rain.

The delay has also caused the President’s plan to work at IKN, which was scheduled to start this July, to be postponed.

According to him, delays in infrastructure development in IKN due to weather factors are commonplace in large projects.

However, the head of state emphasized that basic infrastructure such as water and electricity supplies would be ready shortly.

Deputy Speaker urges govt to make KIA Law derivative regulations

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Muhaimin Iskandar asked the government to make derivative regulations from Law Number 4 of 2024 concerning the Welfare of Mothers and Children in the First Thousand Days of Life Phase (KIA Law).

“We urge the president, ministers, governors, and regional heads to prepare a complete set of regulations, so the Law Number 4/2024 can be implemented immediately,” he said when met at the HI roundabout area, Jakarta, on Sunday.

The government should also regulate sanctions and rewards for KIA Law implementation in every company in Indonesia and make derivative regulations for informal or labor-intensive sector workers, Iskandar continued.

“First, the government should equip the Law with regulations and rules covering all aspects. Secondly, institutions such as social security and social assistance can bridge this need,” he remarked.

According to him, the KIA Law was extraordinary since it covered the health of mothers and children and their welfare.

“Law Number 4 of 2024 is a proof that reform and democracy can produce useful law for all of our people. We will continue to produce laws needed by our people,” Iskandar disclosed.

Previously, the Deputy for Coordination of Quality Improvement for Children, Women, and Youth at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum, informed that the ministry was still reviewing regulations derived from the KIA Law, especially regarding paternity leave.

“This still raises the question, is three days of paternity leave enough? However, fathers are actually given the opportunity to take more leave for important matters. The paternity leave in the Law is not three days strict,” she conveyed in a press conference at her office on July 15.

Previously, the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, said her party would also draft derivative regulations from the KIA Law in collaboration with other ministries/institutions.

As a form of commitment to realizing the welfare of mothers and children, the government will prepare derivative regulations consisting of three Government Regulations and one Presidential Regulation, she stated.

Minister Puspayoga to celebrate National Children’s Day in Papua

Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Minister Bintang Puspayoga is scheduled to discuss the formulation of a legal basis for Papuan women and children’s protection while commemorating 2024 National Children’s Day in Jayapura, Papua.

Head of the Jayapura District PPPA Office Miryam Soumilena stated in Jayapura on Sunday that the minister would visit Papua province at the invitation of the Papuan People’s Council (MRP).

According to her, Puspayoga would hold a meeting with MRP representatives and several local leaders, including Papua Acting Governor Muhammad Rumasukun, after landing at Sentani Airport on Monday (July 22).

The meeting would focus on the future of Papuan women and children and ways to assist them in navigating the current era of rapid changes, she added.

Soumilena further said that the MRP is aiming to devise a legal instrument that will guarantee a higher level of safety and protection for women and children in Papua.

“We all know that people in Papua adhere to harsh customs that allow a man to do whatever he pleases to his bride after a dowry has been paid,” she noted.

On that note, she stated that the MRP, as a representative body of Papuan people, is seeking ways to devise a legal basis that protects the rights Papuan women and children are entitled to.

“In addition to discussing the expected legal basis for women and children’s protection, the meeting will also touch upon matters related to empowerment and childhood stunting cases in Papua,” she remarked.

Earlier, it was also revealed that President Joko Widodo will fly to Papua to open the peak commemorative event of 40th National Children’s Day that will take place at Papua Bangkit Stadium in Jayapura District on Tuesday (July 23).

Chairperson of the event’s regional committee Christian Solihait on Saturday (July 20) informed that the president and his entourage would be welcomed by 1,000 children outside the stadium. In total, 7,000 children will be involved during the national event.

Gibran’s path from Solo to national stage

The presumed privilege of being the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has not necessarily made it any easier for Gibran Rakabuming Raka to join Indonesia’s political arena, let alone achieve success.

Even after being declared the Vice President-elect in the 2024 General Elections, Gibran has yet to be free from whispers of doubt regarding his leadership competency.

However, his success in initiating various infrastructure projects during his tenure as the mayor of Solo, Central Java, has started to prompt a broader population to perceive him as a capable national leader.

After serving the people of Solo for nearly four years, the eldest of President Jokowi’s three children has managed some feats that have helped stimulate the economy of the city and its surroundings.

Under his command, not only did Solo witness the revitalization of dozens of infrastructures and facilities, but also hosted various international-level sports and entertainment events successfully.

It is believed that all those achievements positively affected the economy, given that such projects and events naturally led to an increase in demand for workers, pushed up hotel occupancy rates, and drew more people to the tourist sites the city has to offer.

For instance, the majestic Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Banjarsari Sub-district attracted over three million visitors throughout 2023.

Gembong Hadiwibowo, an official at the Tourism and Culture Office of Solo, noted that the presence of the house of worship has increased the city’s regional original revenue (PAD).

“Tourists are coming by to taste the foods offered (near the mosque). This trend has been propelling the turnover of local micro, small, and medium enterprises,” he informed.

Based on data from the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Solo, the contribution of taxes to the city’s PAD reached nearly Rp450 billion (around Rp16,146 = USD1) in 2023, an increase of Rp33 billion compared to the previous year.

Besides the mosque, Gibran also paid close attention to some other locations when he was in office. For instance, he took the initiative to work with several ministries to revitalize Balekambang Park, Solo Safari Zoo, Lokananta Music Studio, Mangkunegaran Temple, Jongke Market, and Surakarta Royal Palace, among others.

Even after stepping away from his mayoral position on July 16, 2024, Gibran said he remained determined to ensure a brighter future for the 600 thousand residents of his hometown.

This year, Gibran has directed the Solo municipal government to pursue the construction of several new facilities and infrastructure, including the Indonesia-Emirates Cardiology Hospital and Solo Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence.

It is also worth noting that Gibran has managed to bring Solo into the UNESCO Creative City Network, presenting the city with new hope for cultural and economic development.

The Vice President-elect earlier said that this year, the city government placed its focus on human resource development by intensifying the construction of educational infrastructures.

“We have erected plenty of physical (infrastructures) in the last three years. Hence, we will aim to pay closer attention to the development of non-physical ones,” he added.

In the hopes of supporting human resource development, the Solo government has also established investment cooperation in artificial intelligence with the government of India.

Winning the vice presidency for the 2024–2029 period means Gibran had to hand over the mayorship baton to his deputy, Teguh Prakosa, who was installed as the new leader of Solo on July 19 evening.

Gibran and his wife Selvi Ananda attended Prakosa’s inauguration ceremony. Speaking before his successor and acting Central Java Governor Nana Sudjana, Gibran expressed confidence about Solo reaching the next level under Prakosa.

I hereby entrust the city of Solo to you. There are still a lot of works and construction projects that need to be completed this year,” he told his successor.

Despite having vacated his office at the Surakarta Town Hall after tendering his resignation to Solo’s legislative council (DPRD) on July 16, the soon-to-be right hand of President-elect Prabowo Subianto has retained his sincere regard for the city.

In line with his determination to enhance the quality of Solo’s human resources, Gibran has continued to actively visit suburban uninhabitable houses. He has promised to ensure that the program for the rehabilitation of such houses continues.

This house still has no floor tiles. We will continue the work, Madam,” he told a resident of Joyosuran Village in Pasarkliwon Sub-district recently.

The former mayor said he believes that inhabitable homes — to a certain degree — can help suppress the prevalence of childhood stunting, or chronic malnutrition, which tend to hinder the emergence of talented children.

Gibran’s first-hand contact with residents has provided them with some kind of assurance that the government is present in their lives. It is safe to say that leaders must interact with the people to show that they side with them.

After learning about the feats Gibran achieved in the last four years as the leader of Solo, it will only be natural for his critics to shift their view of the 36-year old politician to the better.

With the valuable experiences gained during his mayorship of Solo at his disposal, President Jokowi’s eldest son will face brand new and taller challenges as the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Fulfillment of disabled children’s rights not optimal yet: KPAI

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has said that the fulfillment of disabled children’s rights is not yet optimal due to the stigma against disability in the community.

KPAI’s commissioner for disabled children, child victims of physical-psychological violence, and children in emergency situations, Diyah Puspitarini, said that in 2023, her side received seven reports about disabled children who fell victim to violence.

Most of the cases of violence, she informed, happened in the family environment or where the children lived.

“There are many cases that are not reported to KPAl and our duty is to disseminate information massively so that the public is more concerned about the protection and fulfillment of the rights of children with disabilities,” Puspitarini said here on Tuesday.

At the “Advocacy in Respecting, Protecting, and Fulfilling the Rights of Children with Disabilities” in Jakarta, she also noted that data collection or record-keeping of disabled children’s identity certificates is not yet optimal.

This condition has been worsened by the lack of knowledge among parents, community, and officials regarding the parenting pattern that is appropriate for disabled children.

KPAI also found that health and education access and services for children with disabilities are still not optimal.

Therefore, her side has advised the central government to encourage local governments to issue regional regulations related to the fulfillment of special rights and protections for persons and children with disabilities.

In addition, Puspitarini asked the central government to provide more educational facilities such as schools for children with special needs (SLBs) and job training centers (BLKs) by paying attention to the number and trends of children with disabilities in each region.

That way, children with special needs can hone their potential and develop their skills.

AS Beri Tanda Ikut Perang Arab, Kerahkan Jet Tempur F-22 ke Timteng

Amerika Serikat (AS) memberi tanda bakal terlibat di perang baru Arab jika pecah.

Pernyataan sumber AS itu tampaknya tak main-main. Merujuk akun Instagram militer AS di Timur Tengah, US.

Denim 1 kg harganya US$0,7,” kata Ketua Umum Asosiasi Produsen Serat Benang Filament Indonesia (APSyFI) Redma Gita Wirawasta kepada CNBC Indonesia, Kamis (13/6/2024).

“Harga benangnya saja per kg di atas US$1,2.

“Seperti Permendag No 36/2023. Aturan ini memang tidak lantas menyelesaikan semua masalah. Tapi lumayan membantu dan efeknya bisa menahan laju PHK di dalam negeri. Sebab, persoalan utama adalah impor ilegal, ini ada di BC,” tukas Redma.
